Police Parades 104 Suspect for Robbery

The police in Rivers State on Monday paraded no fewer than 104 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in Port Harcourt. The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Joseph Mbu, said the suspects were apprehended in different parts of the state in July 2013. Besides the suspects, Mbu said 38 firearms, 2,631 rounds of ammunition and six vehicles were recovered from the suspects. The CP, who noted that many of the crimes were committed in Ahoada, added that 64 wraps of weeds and 30 bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp were seized by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the police. Meanwhile, the command has aborted a planned bank robbery and recovered a cache of weapons in three vehicles at a Mechanic village in Ihugbo, along East- West Road, Ahoada, Rivers State. A statement by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, in Abuja on Monday said the police recovered two General Purpose Machine Guns with 593 rounds of ammunition; eight rifles with 1,635 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and 57 magazines. Also recovered were one G3 rifle with magazine; two dynamites with detonators and other explosives canes.
